BLSKS Holds Week-long AIDS Awareness Campaign – Jammu Kashmir Latest News | Tourism
JAMMU, 17th September: Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) held a special week-long AIDS awareness campaign through popular media in RS Pura and Bishnah by performing a musical play ‘Nai Chetna’, here today.
The three programs were presented at RS Pura which were inaugurated by Principal Guest Yash Paul Mangotra, Principal GHS Boys Rangpur Maulanian, Ajay Sharma, Principal GHSS Boys RS Pura and Bachan Lal, Panch respectively. The program took place after attending the Regional Folk Media Workshop organized by the National Aids Control Society, GoI in Lucknow by the BLSKS,
Special guests were Rakesh Kumar, Mahabir Singh, Rachana Tomar, Shivani Pathania and Rohit Kumar.
In addition to awareness programs, colorful cultural programs consisting of skits/dances/songs based on various themes were also presented at the event. Elements such as musical play and songs were specially designed to raise awareness and the short play “Nai Chetna” written by Dr. ML Dogra (BLSKS President) was also staged during the event.
Earlier, while welcoming the dignitaries, Dr. ML Dogra explained that the first symptoms of HIV tend to appear around 2 to 4 weeks after a person is exposed to the virus. However, it can sometimes take months or even years for symptoms to appear. Without treatment, HIV can be life-threatening, he said.
The singers, musicians and actors who performed during the play were Raju Bajgal, Nazuk Bhagat, Chahat Chadha, Sudesh Manhas, Ravi Kumar, Rahul Kumar and Deepak Kumar Dogra.
