MANILA, Philippines — With the new year comes a new set of challenges. But coughs and colds aren’t exactly new, and children are particularly vulnerable to them, especially when the weather gets too cold (and rainy) for them to be comfortable with.

Getting sick is an unpleasant experience. However, there are ways parents can consider to keep their children safe and protected. Here are a few:

1. Get vaccinated

Getting vaccinated is one of the best ways to protect children against illnesses, like the flu.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that children six months and older get vaccinated annually with a seasonal flu vaccine.

And because flu strains are constantly changing, flu vaccines are updated every season. Thus, parents should ensure that their children’s vaccinations are up to date.

2. Good hygiene

To minimize infection and the spread of disease, children should learn good hygiene.

A great example of this is regular hand washing with soap and water to help remove germs stuck on the skin. Using hand sanitizers or rubbing alcohol is also a good alternative, especially when traveling.

Another form of good hygiene is to cover your nose or mouth when you sneeze or cough using a tissue or tissue. After use, dispose of these items properly.

3. Healthy food

Healthy meals should consist of nutrient-dense, well-balanced foods to help children build and maintain their health and immunity.

A healthy diet includes fruits and vegetables, whole grains, beans, nuts, dairy products (like milk and cheese), fish, lean meats and poultry, and water .

Parents can also consult a doctor or dietitian to help them plan and prepare nutritious meals for their children.

4. Fun and Exercise

Whether indoors or outdoors, a fun little activity is also ideal for children.

Activities may include games such as tagu-taguan (hide and seek), skater Where langit-lupa, to name a few. Another is to go for walks or help with simple chores together.

Not only does it help them socialize and boost their self-esteem, but it also reduces stress and strengthens bones and muscles.

5. Rest

Like adults and teenagers, young children should also have enough time to rest and sleep.

Not only does this help boost their immune system, but it also helps improve their memory and mood, as well as their overall mental health.

And when it’s time for children to rest or take a nap, many Filipino parents give them gentle massages using massage oils to help them relax, such as manzanilla oil.

The warmth of the parents associated with the manzanilla

Manzanilla, Spanish for chamomile, is a plant known for its herbal benefits. An example of its use is IPI Aceite de Manzanillawhich contains manzanilla oil which many mothers use to help relieve body discomforts experienced by their children, including kabag (colic).

Colic is a natural condition when infants cry constantly for hours. The causes are uncertain, but some babies may have difficulty adjusting to new surroundings or may experience discomfort from gas or indigestion.

Apart from colic, mothers also use IPI Aceite de Manzanilla to help relieve flu-like symptoms (such as cough, cold or fever) experienced by their children. It also helps promote calm and relaxing sleep at bedtime.

IPI Aceite de Manzanilla is also useful when children need a little tender massage from their parents. In addition, giving them occasional massages has several advantages:

  • It helps them relax and relieve stress, allowing for better sleep.
  • It improves their mood, helping to minimize crying.
  • It helps reduce discomforts, such as colic. Tender massage also helps children who experience muscle pain when they have flu-like symptoms, such as the common cold.
  • It promotes social, emotional and cognitive development.
  • It strengthens the bond between parent and child, improving their emotional and communication bonds.
  • It allows parents to better understand their baby’s signals.
  • It builds parents’ confidence when handling their children.

Although taking care of children requires a lot of time and effort, the love of a parent matters and contributes greatly to the development of a child.

Love begins with caring for the people who matter and giving them a gesture of encouragement. Alongside IPI Aceite De Manzanilla, keep showing the warmth of love and always stay safe!
