SEEDS of Healing organizes a 5 km run for HIV/AIDS awareness
Fundraising will help support the group’s mission to reduce transmission of the virus and eliminate associated stigma.
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Erasing the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS is one of the primary goals of SEEDS of Healing Organization in Wilmington, NC.
The group is hosting a 5k run to raise money for their programming costs and to raise awareness of their mission and vision in the Cape Fear area.
The race begins Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m. at Greenfield Lake Park, 1739 Burnett Blvd. in Wilmington, North Carolina.
SEEDS of Healing attempts to deconstruct the myths that perpetuate HIV-related stigma. The organization also works to raise awareness and generate support for patients diagnosed with HIV.
The long-term vision of SEEDS includes eliminating the transmission of HIV and creating an environment where all people diagnosed with HIV can lead healthy and productive lives.
Former WWAY-TV news anchor Randy Aldridge will host the opening ceremonies for the race.
Between 75 and 100 people are expected.
