The AIDS awareness campaign was successful; cases raised in Jind, Faridabad: The Tribune India

The pandemic has hit the AIDS awareness program hard as the number of tests has dropped dramatically during the Covid period.
According to data collected by The Tribune, in 2021-2022 so far, the Department of Health has tested 6,325,775 people, while in 2020-2021, up to 10,333,634 people have been tested. In 2019-2020, 13,064,426 samples were tested, according to the data.
Dr Renu Pahal Malik, project director, Haryana State AIDS Control Society (HSACS), said Covid had hit the awareness program, but had now been ramped up.

Dr Malik was in Karnal on Friday to launch an awareness campaign and reported 50 taxis that will travel around the district to spread awareness about AIDS. Accompanied by Dr Yogesh Sharma, civil surgeon from Karnal, she said the situation in Jind and Faridabad was worrying as the number of cases in both districts was high.
“At present, there are 37,700 registered cases. Of these, 19,754 are being treated in the state, ”she said.
